Training Skills Behind This Class

The 70th Basic Obedience Class, beginning May 20, 2019, represents one group in Prodogz's continuing Basic Obedience history. The curriculum is intentionally practical, with owners learning how to build attention first and then use that attention to improve manners and reliability.

Because this is an archived class from 2019, the photographs are presented as a historical record rather than as a claim that every pictured dog is performing every skill described below. These are core skills taught across this Prodogz class series.

Polite manners for everyday life

Basic Obedience also addresses manners that make living with a dog easier, including jumping, pushy greetings, settling and listening when daily life gets busy. These exercises help owners apply training at home and in public rather than limiting obedience to a formal class setting.

Handler timing and fading food rewards

Owners are taught how reward timing, repetition and consistency affect learning. Food is useful for teaching new behaviors, but the program also shows handlers how to reduce dependence on visible treats over time so the dog responds to clear communication instead of only working when food is shown first.

Leave it, take it and better choices

Exercises such as leave it and take it help dogs learn that access to things can be controlled through communication with the handler. That same concept supports safer choices around dropped items, food, toys and everyday distractions while strengthening the dog's habit of checking in before acting.

This is a historical gallery, but the training concepts remain useful for current owners. Learn more about Prodogz Basic Obedience or review behavior training options when the challenge goes beyond foundation obedience.
