Behind the photos from the 39th Puppy Class is a puppy curriculum focused on communication and prevention. The series began February 12, 2021 and helped owners practice useful skills early, when puppies are especially open to new routines and learning experiences.

Puppy biting and jumping foundations
Puppy biting and jumping are normal young-dog behaviors, but they are much easier to shape before they become practiced habits. Owners learn how to redirect biting, reward appropriate interaction and teach the puppy that calm behavior and four paws on the floor are more successful ways to get attention.
Crate routines, handling and settling
Puppy Preschool also gives owners a plan for everyday home skills such as crate routines, calm handling and settling. These quieter exercises are important because a puppy needs to learn not only how to be active and engaged, but also how to relax and accept normal care and household structure.
Helping the owner learn, too
Puppy class is as much about teaching the owner as teaching the puppy. Clear reward timing, realistic expectations and consistent practice between classes give families a repeatable system they can use as the puppy matures and encounters new distractions.
